The Klein Aus Vista’s modern guesthouse the Desert Horse Inn accommodates four spacious double rooms, each with a generous bathroom.

 

The guesthouse owes its name to the previous tenants. In the past, read more » the nowadays luxurious and lovingly restored rooms were horse stables.

 

Those who prefer serene solitude are well advised to consider the remote Eagle’s Nest. Even though it belongs to the Klein Aus Vista Lodge, the Eagle’s Nest is located fifteen minutes away.

 

Nestling again the granite rock, eight quaint stone bungalows accommodate the distinguished guests. Needless to say, that every unit features its private bathroom.

 

The stirring atmosphere of the remote and rugged setting more than makes up for what the bungalows might lack in extravagant comforts.

 

A small kitchen allows you to self-supply should you wish to do so. However, the highlight of your bungalow is certainly the terrace commanding a breathtaking view out over the rough-faced landscape stretching out as far as the eye can see.

 

On your request, the Desert Horse Inn can prepare breakfast and barbecue packages for you to take back to your bungalow. A breakfast on your terrace just shortly after sunrise or a barbecue under the brilliantly sparkling copula of the desert night sky … a wildly romantic experience!

Other highlights of the trip are the soaring Koichap Dunes and the nearby Camel Thorn forest in the dry Koichap riverbed. You might also encounter some to the infinite desert’s inhabitants. The elegant eland is frequently spotted as are the wild desert horses.

 

The climb up the Dikke Willem volcano crater is strenuous but highly rewarding and unforgettable. Not to worry, the volcano is not active anymore but still sports the remains of a heliograph station dating back to World War One.
