Rovos Rail Routes & Adventures

Routes It is a tough job to choose between the different routes the Rovos Rails offers. However, no matter your final decision, each of the routes has its individual charm and magical flair. The Rovos Rail has something for everyone, even for sports enthusiast. The nine-day long golf safari begins in Pretoria and goes through Phalaborwa, Swaziland, Durban, Ladysmith and Sun City, before looping back to the starting point. The route from Cape Town to George and vice versa covers 550 kilometres in only 24 hours. Known for the scenic landscape, the tour passes through Worcester and Ashton, traversing lush, green valleys. Pretoria is also the starting point for the ride to the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. The falls and the train journey are an adventure all by themselves. Heading steadily north, the train passes Bela Bela, Soekmekaar and the Soutpan Mountains. Rumble towards the setting sun and cross the Beit Bridge just before entering Zimbabwe. Via the Hwange Game Reserve, you arrive at your final destination, the powerful Zambezi River and its thunderous falls. The tour from Pretoria to Durban is a three-day safari by train. Enjoy encounters with the wildlife at the Kruger National Park, the Mkhaya Game Reserve in Swaziland and the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. A sensational optional: the air-safari, which features the most spectacular safari destinations in South Africa. You can choose where you would like to go. Allow INTOSOL to assist you with these difficult decisions and provide you with detailed information on the options at hand. It is our aim to tailor the perfect holiday for you! Adventures A train ride through the fascinating landscape of the Cape of Good Hope is, of course, an adventure all by itself. Nevertheless, you can optionally participate in numerous exciting activities and excursions at the stations and stopovers. If you are booked on the Golf Safari program, you have nine days to improve your handicap on several courses. However, the program does leave you enough time for a classic safari at the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. On the route Cape Town – George, you will make a stopover in the picturesque town Ashton for a spot of wine tasting. The train will also stop in the Hwange National Park on the way back from the Victoria Falls to Pretoria. The sundowner you receive at the Hwange National Park is the perfect addition to the stunning display of Mother Nature’s beauty. After the impressive roar of the Victoria Falls, you can enjoy the quietness and silent magic of the park. Booked on the Pride of Africa trip, you will get to know the habitat of the white and black rhinoceros as well as the inhabitants themselves on a tour through the Hluluwe Game Reserve. It is an unforgettable journey through the heart of the wild African bush. After the train leaves the park, you can enjoy a long brunch on your way to Durban. Your route from Pretoria to Cape Town follows ancient pioneer paths. A visit to the diamond museum in Kimberley relays the old days of the gold rush and carries an authentic gold-digger feeling. The next day, you will have plenty of time to visit the picturesque village Matjiesfontain. You should definitely explore the gift shop located at the middle of the train. The gracious shop stores many clever and beautiful items that make great little presents and souvenirs. A journey with the Rovos Rail is an experience you will not soon forget!
