Not far from the Garden Route, the De Opstal Country Lodge is situated in the picturesque Schoemanshoek Valley.

 

The lodge is composed of a group of authentic, old farm houses which have been painstakingly refurbished and designed both in an elegant and highly luxurious style.

 

A lush garden, amidst it the sparkling pool, frames the complex and its graciously quaint restaurant where a maximum of 50 guests will be served a traditional breakfast and, upon request, a sumptuous dinner.

The Old Wagon House is the perfect read more » accommodation option for families or groups of four to six persons. A comfortable lounge with a fireplace, air-conditioning and a large TV is the centrepiece, supplemented by two bedrooms, a double and a twin, and a bathroom with a shower.

 

The Share Cropper’s House offers similar amenities: a lounge with a fireplace and air-conditioning, bathroom with a shower and, in difference to the Old Wagon House, three double bedrooms, also making it ideal for small groups.

 

The Bungalow has a lounge with a fireplace, ventilator and TV, the bathroom with all modern amenities just to the side. A bedroom with a comfortable double bed promises sweet dreams.

 

The Old Barn is in actual fact a comfortable suite composed of a living room with a fireplace and air-conditioning, a bathroom with a shower and a bedroom with a double bed.

 

The Suite Sitting is another accommodation option perfect for couples: the lounge, bedroom and shower bathroom with a separate toilet are all well-appointed.

 

The Garden Suite Sitting offers all the comfort you would expect and additionally has a few extras up its sleeve: double beds, a fireplace, air-conditioning and a TV plus a mini bar are all at your disposition. For your convenience, the toilet has been set apart from the bathroom with a shower.

 

The Pool Suite is equally comfortable. The bathroom features a shower and all amenities and the suite includes double beds, a fireplace, air-conditioning and a TV.

The Cango Caves are one of the world’s great natural wonders: The enormous stalactite cave system is sure to fascinate you with its breathtaking and bizarre lime stone formations. Guided excursions into the confusing maze start on a daily basis.

 

Entertaining for the kids and parents alike is an excursion to one of the many working ostrich farms of the area. Learn about the secrets of ostrich breeding in an educative, entertaining and adventurous fashion. The tours also start daily.

 

Little Karoo National Arts Festival:

 

Once a year in March and April, the Little Karoo National Arts Festival takes place. Those who appreciate cultural activities can enjoy a whole week of film, plays, cabaret and classic as well as contemporary music.
