The Elephant House is a gracious and highly comfortable Guest House, only seven kilometres from the famous Addo Elephant Park in the beautiful Sundays River Valley.

 

The thatched building sports an African colonial style and takes you back to days gone by. The design line is continued in the interior: Furnished with antiques, Persian rugs and African art, it is a tribute to South Africa’s colonial history.

The restaurant’s chef is pleased to serve you a light lunch at the pool or a three-course candlelight dinner on your private terrace.

 

The Elephant House runs its own safari department that arranges daily excursions into the Addo Elephant Park. No matter whether you choose to go early in the morning, on horseback or at sunset – a game drive into the Addo Park is always a thrilling adventure!

 

“Piets Bush Braii” is especially tempting: a night under South Africa’s stars. At 7 pm, you leave for the boma in the bush. After a delicious barbeque, you sit at the bonfire and listen to the stories that the guide tells you about the Bushveld Valley.

 

Additionally, you have the opportunity to book “Big-Five”-Safaris that visit nearby private game reserves (e.g. Shamwari), historical and cultural tours or a helicopter flight to a secluded beach.

Everything has been thought of. Countless accessories and decorations emphasise the attention to detail. The bathrooms are equipped with both a bathtub and a shower.

 

All of the Elephant House’s rooms are accommodated in the main building on two stories. Ground floor rooms feature a private veranda.

 

The Elephant House is ideal for families with children. Of course, an extra bed can be brought to any of the rooms on your request.

Of course, safaris are at the focus of activities at the Elephant House. The nearby Addo Elephant Park offers perfect conditions for exciting and adventurous safaris. Additionally, the nearby private game read more » reserves, like Shamwari, are also worth a visit.

 

The Elephant House has its own Safari department that offers all kinds of safaris – on foot, on horseback or a classic game drive in an open jeep.

 

The night bush-dinner around a bonfire lit amidst the wilderness is especially delightful. Be sure not to miss out on these events, which are organised regularly.

 

Another highlight is a helicopter flight out over the Indian Ocean’s blue expanse. Of course, you also get a chance to admire the Addo Park from the air. After a 15-minute flight, you alight upon the beach for a swim in the Indian Ocean and a picnic at a secluded beach.
