the old buildings have been lovingly restored and refurnished. Today, the Arathusa Safari Lodge is well-known for its elegant style and fine accommodation.
The Arathusa Safari Lodge is set in the northern section of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and comprises no less than 868 hectares. However, the lodge management was able to obtain permits to run the exciting game drives on vast 4000 hectares.
The highly qualified and dedicated rangers will introduce you to the fascinating landscape and the diverse wildlife. The Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which borders the Kruger National Park, is world-famous for its superb Big Five game drives.
Elephants, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes and lions inhabit the reserve in unusually high numbers. And with just a little luck on your side, you may observe these magnificent animals at the waterhole right next to the Arathusa Lodge.
The nearby Manyaleti River is another magnet for the large herds and their predators. Safaris at Sabi Sands are renowned for the countless sightings of big game.
In fact, you need not even leave the comfort of the Arathusa Safari Lodge for great wildlife observation. The lodge’s open architecture frequently allows you to spot wildlife from your room or private veranda.
Alternatively, cool down in the beautifully designed infinity pool and admire the playful hippopotamuses enjoying similar pleasures nearby. The options of admiring the African wilderness’ sights, sounds and smells are next to endless.
Incidentally, when the lodge was modernised, greatest importance was placed on using mostly natural materials. Quality timber is the dominant material and helps integrate the lodge harmoniously into its natural surroundings.
Come night time, Hannes and Anina set about to make preparations for a wonderful African tradition: A merrily crackling fire shooting sparks towards the starry skies, indulge in savoury delicacies and listen to stories from the South African bush.
