read more »The unique art hotel was founded by Baron Alfred von Ellrichshausen and his wife. German aristocrats by birth, the couple emigrated to Argentina in the second half of the 20th century. The El Casco Art Hotel’s claim to fame was already well established in the 1970s. Its European glamour and its owner’s warm-hearted hospitality drew tourists from all over the world.
However, after countless successful and celebrated years, the hotel closed for seven years until Ignacio Gutiérrez Zaldivar bought it in 2006. Fully restored to new glory, the El Casco Art Hotel was reopened in its present, contemporary style. The original wooden spiral staircase still dates back to the old days, reminiscent of the hotel’s proud heritage.
The location in the foothills of the majestic Andes Mountains makes the El Casco Art Hotel an exciting option for exploring the beautiful Rio Negro province. Moreover, Bariloches vibrant city centre is located a mere 15 minutes away.
In the summer months, no less than two 18-hole golf courses invite you to take a swing. In winter, the hotel is the perfect base for winter sports enthusiasts. The celebrated ski arena Cerro Catedral is located 15 minutes away. Cruising down the spectacular ski runs, take the time to marvel at the views of the valleys, peaks and lakes!

read more »The two Bustillo Studios are 30 and 49 square metres large and located on the first and second floor. The comfortable studios are equipped with a large, king-sized bed or with two single beds. The additional facilities include air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and sound system. Make yourself at home and enjoy the views of Lake Nahuel Huapi and the soaring mountain beyond.
Located on the first and second floor, the 18 stylish Nahuel Suites are generous 45 square metres large – perfect for a romantic stay in all comfort. The modern bathrooms are equipped with a walk-in shower. Kick back and enjoy the magnificent views of the mountain surroundings!
Step it up and choose one of the Nahuel Balcony Studios. Comfortable 56 square metres large, the luxurious Studios include large panorama windows and a private balcony looking out over the glittering lake and the lush gardens. The refined units are furnished with either a cosy king-sized bed or two single beds.
The Corner Suites, with their 52 square metres, are only slightly smaller but lovingly equipped and with a fantastic view of Lake Nahuel Huapi, only 40 metres away. Again, you have a choice between a king-sized bed or two single beds. The facilities furthermore include a separate dressing room, writing desk, air-conditioning, flat-screen TV with a DVD player and a sound system. Families or groups of friends may combine the Corner Suite with an adjacent Twin Studio to create a 97 square metres large apartment.
Located on the second floor, the unique Suite Quirós is vast 92 square metres large. Large and luxurious, the tasteful suite offers a cosy bedroom and additional, separate living room, each equipped with flat-screen TVs. Kick off your shoes and spend a quiet hour or two simply gazing out over Lake Nahuel Huapi. The stately bathroom features a walk-in shower, double bathtub as well as a Jacuzzi.
With its 110 square metres, the Suite Soldi is the El Casco Art Hotel’s largest and most luxurious accommodation unit. The elegant bedroom features a large king-sized bed at its centre. The living room has been stylishly appointed… however, it is the private terrace that is certainly the champion of the hearts. Help yourself to something cold from the mini bar and step outside to enjoy the afternoon’s warm sun. Afterwards, draw yourself a foam-topped bath in the double tub, slip into the Jacuzzi or simply enjoy the hot water in the walk-in shower. Just perfect!

The El Casco Art Hotel has its own 15 metres long boat that invites you out for a quiet day on the water. Enjoy a pick-nick on board and cool off with a daring dive into the water whenever desired. Just wonderful!
Of course, you may pick up the pace and try your hand - that is to say your feet – at water skiing. Spectacular white-water rafting is also available. Those that prefer a slower pace may also rent fishing gear by the day.
Two nearby 18-hole golf courses offer a challenge, not to mention the breathtakingly beautiful setting. Both amateurs and professional players are welcome!
In the southern hemisphere’s winter months, Argentina become a Mecca for skiing enthusiasts. Fly down the perfect runs with a view of the lake in the valley far below. The El Casco Art Hotel is located at only 15 minutes’ distance from the ski resort Cerro Catedral and offers regular transfers in winter. Equipment and tickets are available on site.
Having spent the day out and about in the snow, return to the hotel’s wonderful spa to heat up in all style. Do a few easy laps in the heated pool, slip into the large whirlpool or enjoy the Turkish or the Finnish bath and the sauna. Professional massages and beauty treatments are available. Yoga and Tai Chi are offered at the fully equipped gym.
And then, of course, there are the carefully selected works of art that add to the El Casco Art Hotel’s unique flair.
