Songs have been sung and prose has been written about Vietnam’s great natural beauty. The locals compare the country’s peculiar shape to bowls of rice connected by a bamboo rod.

Vietnam’s north and south are the most fertile regions. The centre, however, is characterised by towering mountains and lush rainforests. The nature is quite simply stunning. On one day you may stroll down endless, blindingly white sand beaches and rolling dunes, where on the next you may explore deep and dark jungle.

A recommendation goes out to the seaside town Mui Ne, which does not only sport a scenic harbour full of bobbing fishing boats and rolling red sand dunes but is also a great location for kite surfing. Some of the best sites for diving and snorkelling may be found close to the islands Con Dao and Phu Quoc. Another spectacular destination is Nha Trang – possibly Asia’s most beautiful beach!

In Ha Long Bay you may board a luxurious cruise ship to explore the countless Vietnamese coves and bays in all style. The cruise ships carry ocean kayaks that allow you paddle up into even the most intricate nooks and crannies.

Ha Long Bay as well as Hoi An’s old town have been awarded the honour of an UNESCO world heritage site listing. They are an attraction that no visit to Vietnam would be complete without. Continue your journey through Vietnam to the charming town Chau Doc situated close to the border with Cambodia. Chau Doc, with its floating houses and traditional lifestyle provides a first-hand experience of original Vietnamese culture.

There are more sides to Vietnam than you would ever expect. The region Sapa, located high up in the mountains, is a home to several ethnic groups living peacefully together. Da Nang is well known for its breathtaking ocean cloud pass traversing the mountainous landscape.

Vietnam’s turbulent and often troubled history is reflected throughout the entire country. However, the best places to get in touch with the history are the islands Phu Quoc and Con Dao. Heading back towards the country’s centre, the city Hue calls for a stop. Hue offers several attractions that include emperors’ tombs, citadels and palaces. And then, of course, there is Vietnam’s capital Ha Noi.

Apart from the ancient alleyways, Ha Noi’s principal attraction is the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Vietnam’s first head of state, Ho Chi Minh lend the city, which was formerly known as Saigon, his name. The capital Ha Noi is a great starting point for your Vietnam adventure. Located in the country’s north, it also serves as an international hub for flights originating from or departing to Europe.
