Tailor-made Ha Noi Travel Experiences -
A Capital in Motion
In the north of Vietnam, Ha Noi is more than a capital city, it is also one of the oldest cities in all of Southeast Asia and a home to approximately three million inhabitants. Ha Noi is the second largest city of the country after Ho Chi Minh / Saigon. Ha Noi is a metropolis that is constantly in motion. The first impression is that of an assault of thousands of motorbikes. The hectic, bee-like bustle of two-wheeled propulsion is overwhelming. And despite the racket, it is fascinating to watch an entire city on the move!
Of course, there is more: No less than 600 temples turn Ha Noi into a cultural capital more than anything else. Artists apparently thrive in the city and their creative work is on display at the city’s celebrated galleries. The old town is a maze of thirty six crooked alleyways, each one dedicated to one specific trade. There is an entire alley dominated by shoemakers, another that hints at its trade with a fine, fishy fragrance.
Motorbikes, temples, artists and fishmongers ... Ha Noi is fascinating, a city that never ceases to surprise those that stroll the streets with curiosity. Another turn takes you past a historic monument and down the street you may catch a first glimpse of the striking French colonial buildings. And for a short break from the sights and bikes, kick off your shoes in one of Ha Noi’s wonderful parks, mostly graced with large, quiet lakes. Later, pay a visit to the venerated Temple of Literature, a hallmark of Vietnam’s traditional architecture.
Another worthwhile, though slightly morbid trip takes you to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the chief attraction being Vietnam’s first president’s Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body. To take your mind of bizarre burial customs, visit the beautiful Lake Hoan Kiem. Take a leisurely stroll around the lake and cross the famous red bridge. It is a wonderful place to escape the hustle and bustle, the rumpus and racket of the vast city for a while. The lake is also a highly popular spot with Tai Chi enthusiasts who often meet early in the morning.
The best seasons to visit Ha Noi are spring and autumn. Temperatures are moderate, neither hot nor cold, allowing you to explore this multi-faceted city from dawn to dusk at your ease. Ha Noi is a large part of the heart and soul of Vietnam. Allow INTOSOL to tailor your holiday of a lifetime. Just lean back and look forward!
