Tailor-made Tahiti Island Beach Holidays-

Gateway to the South Seas

Tahiti, also known as the Gateway to the South Seas, offers its visitors a host of exciting experiences. Of volcanic origin, Tahiti is surprisingly mountainous and the panoramic peaks and lush valley make for unforgettable hikes. A feast for the eyes: admire giant ferns, thundering waterfalls, dark, damp and deep caves as well as fragrant tropical flowers and exotic wildlife. A pair of sturdy hiking boots certainly feature on the active visitor's packing list. Recommendations go to the Papenoo high valley, the Maroto Ridge and magical Lake Vaihiria. And then, there is the nature reserve Fenua ai'here, scenically located on a peninsula and boasting the spectacular Le Pari Cliffs. Generally rocky, the rugged coastline nevertheless hides countless stunningly beautiful bays boasting white or black sand beaches as well as crystal-clear water. Incidentally, Tahiti is formed by two parts, the large peninsula Tahiti Nui as well as the smaller Tahiti Iti. Both are beautiful and it is impossible to escape the magic of the lush valleys, tangled rainforests and glittering waterfalls tumbling into cool pools framed by blossoming flowers. Tahiti's capital city, Papeete, is located on the north west coast and certainly merits a visit. Experience the islander's famed and fabled friendliness and spend a wonderful day sampling tropical fruit, admiring the local arts and crafts. Papeete is a lively city with many excellent restaurants, cafés and nightclubs. Settle down with a coffee or cocktail to observe the bustling to and fro or start a chat with one of the cheerful Tahitians. Of course, Papeete is also the ideal spot to board one of the cruises that depart for the sensational coral reefs or to charter a boat and captain for a day spent out on the ocean fishing. And for a deeper insight, turn to one of the diving schools and tour operators. There is a lot to do on Tahiti. Of course, you may also decide to kick back, enjoying a day of sweet idleness. However, with energies to spare, why not visit the Botanical Gardens at the nearby town Papeari? Breathe in the warm air: hundred of exotic flowers and trees add their fragrance to the ocean breeze. Later, visit the Gaugin Museum. The celebrated French painter chose Tahiti above all other places as his long-time residence – and, let it be said, for a very good reason!
