Tailor-made Amboseli National Park Experiences

A Wilderness Idyll at the Foot of the Kilimanjaro

At just over 200 km distance from the bustling streets of Mombasa and Nairobi, on the border to Tanzania, the Amboseli National Park features sweeping savannah landscapes against the backdrop of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. The open plains and the Amboseli’s relatively small size with a mere 392 square kilometres are a proven recipe for countless wildlife sightings. Here you enjoy the opportunity to get up close to unusually large elephant herds, which gather around Lake Amboseli. Moreover, the Amboseli National Park is a home to giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, lions and cheetahs. The strict protection of the environment is an admirable achievement of the local Maasai population that cracked down on poaching at an early stage. Today, an astounding 1000 wild elephants inhabit the park. In fact, hardly any other wildlife reserve provides such a rich habitat and flourishing population that allows for the study of large elephant herds’ inherent social structures. For these reasons the Amboseli Trust for Elephants has been conducting its scientific studies here since 1972. In addition to the dry savannah landscapes, the Lake Amboseli provides a lush habitat and comprises a major part of Kenya’s smallest national park. A shallow water body that is only seasonally flooded, it comes alive with mirage illusions on a hot day. Certainly, a visit to the Amboseli National Park combined with a stop in Nairobi is well worth a visit. Welcome to magical Kenya!
