Arriving at the Xakanaxa Camp, you receive a warm welcome at the elegant main building, which rests on a platform overlooking the Khwai River. Take a moment to appreciate both the sincere friendliness and the breathtaking view of the surrounding islets and lagoons.

 

The service at the Xakanaxa Camp is first-class and contributes greatly to the experience. The Xakanaxa guides and trackers are equally experienced. Safaris are offered either as classic game drives in open safari vehicles or in a Mokoro, a local dugout canoe.

 

The thirteen tent suites are at once traditional and equipped with contemporary amenities. They accommodate a maximum of 24 guests. The Xakanaxa’s general facilities include a small pool and a shop.

The diverse landscape provides habitats for countless different wildlife species, many of which can be observed in all comfort from the camp. 13 luxurious tent suites provide ample comforts and, of course, a viewing deck.

 

Twelve of the suites have been furnished for single or double occupancy, whereas the remaining suite accommodates a guide or pilot while offering the same comforts.

 

Designed in a classic Meru style, the units have been erected on raised platform that commands a stunning view of the Okavango Delta’s splendour.

 

The facilities include a finely appointed ensuite shower bathroom complete with a hairdryer and quality toiletries. Your valuables are well protected in the tent’s safe and electronic devices may be charged at the power point.

Activities

Nature’s rhythm is also the natural clock outlining the day’s activities at the Xakanaxa Camp. Enjoy a light breakfast just before sunrise and set off on safari in time with the breaking dawn.

 

You read more » may choose between a number of safari options both on land and on water. On land, an open Land Rover comfortably accommodates up to eight guests as well as a knowledgeable guide, who introduces you to the Okavango Delta’s intricate ecosystem.

 

However, you may also opt for a water-based safari. In a Mokoro, a traditional dug-out canoe, you glide down the delta’s pristine waterways in absolute silence. Alternatively, a motorboat whisks you away to farther destinations in the Okavango Delta, the world’s largest inland water-maze.

 

Having spent approximately three hours out and about, you return to the Xakanaxa Camp, where a delicious brunch is already waiting for you. Afterwards, settle down on your deck or indulge yourself with a nap before enjoying a steaming mug of tea and the day’s second safari.

 

The early evening light creates a magical flair and many nocturnal species begin to stir. The experienced guides know just which spots are most likely to offer superb sightings. Of course, the icing on the cake is a stirringly beautiful African sunset.

 

About half an hour after nightfall, you return to the lodge. Refresh yourself with a cocktail mixed to perfection and settle down around the crackling campfire for a delicious dinner in good company.

 

However, on your request, the gourmet treats may also be served in the privacy of your suite’s deck with only the stars and the sounds of the wilderness for company.
