No more than twelve guests are accommodated at the Whare Kea Lodge at any one time. Each of the six sophisticated rooms sports a generous bathroom complete with a bathtub and separate shower.

 

The walk-in closet is an amenity that especially the ladies with a big wardrobe will appreciate. There is plenty of space to keep your dresses and choose your attire for the night. A Bose sound system plays a tune and the safe protects your valuables.

 

A desk allows you to do business and the internet connects you to the world. However, we recommend you rather settle down in the cosy armchairs with a good book, twirling a glass of finest New Zealand wine.

 

On a fine day, step out onto your private, furnished sundeck to enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. And at night, lean back to observe the southern hemisphere’s twinkling, star-strewn skies.

 

The two Master Suites boast an extra large king-sized bed promising sweet dreams to come. A comfortable sofa invites you to stretch out for a little nap in between.

 

The Whare Kea Lodge’s shared facilities include three cosy lounges complete with an open fireplace. Stare into the dancing flames, sipping an aperitif before moving over to the elegant dining room for a delicious gourmet dinner.

July to October are the best months for winter sports. Having enjoyed a hearty breakfast, have a helicopter pick you up to drop you off high in the Harris and Buchanan Mountains. The powdery snow invites you to carve the first lines into the mountain side!

 

Tired muscles towards the end of the day come as no surprise: The Whare Kea Lodge offers professional massages to ease the strain out of your body. Alternatively, sip a steaming mug of tea, indulging in the peace and quiet of the mountain scenery!

 

Later, having wined and dined, tune up your snooker skills or simply settle down in front of the fireplace, savouring the warmth and the flames crackling and casting their soft light.

 

It does not always have to be heli-skiing: Just tie up your hiking boots and set out to discover the stunningly beautiful nature around the lodge. For starters, take a stroll around the lake. Longer, guided day or night hikes can also be organised.

 

Back to skies, you may also combine a helicopter flight with a hike: Ask to be dropped off in the mountains to walk back down to the Whare Kea Lodge. Or simply fly to some lonely, lovely brink for a private picnic with a view!

 

The spring and autumn months are the best of fishing: Enthusiastic anglers will delight in the lakes and streams, which are full of delicious salmon and trout. Cast a line and have your catch of the day prepared at night.

 

And last but not least, no less than three golf courses in the vicinity of the Whare Kea Lodge allow you to practise the gentleman’s sport in a breathtaking setting.
