The two traditional wooden cottages date back to 1920 and 1940. After extensive and painstakingly detailed renovations, the two cottages accommodate two to four guests and boast magnificent views of the Te Mata Peak and the Tuki Tuki River.

 

A fully equipped read more » kitchen allows you to self-supply. However, should you prefer the services of a private gourmet chef, it is a pleasure for us to coordinate full board with the hotel management.

 

The two Tom’s Cottages boast all the amenities of a first-class hotel and more. Having spent a day out and about exploring, refresh yourself with a leisurely, foam-topped bath in the open-air tub.

Of course, the finely appointed bathroom boasts additional amenities that include a hairdryer, quality toiletries and soft bathrobes. Finest cotton linen grace the beds, a CD-player provides soft background music and plenty of good books are available.

 

A nearby farm provides fresh delicacies for breakfast. Moreover, every day fresh flowers are delivered to your cottage and the daily newspaper is supplied.

The region around the beautiful town Napier is graced with a mild climate and scenic countryside. It is one of the country’s most important wine-growing regions that attracts wine connoisseurs from all read more » over the world.

 

A new day at Tom’s Cottages starts with a relaxing open-air breakfast. Read the daily paper in one of the comfortable lounge chairs or do a few easy laps in the pool. Rested and ready, set out to explore the beautiful surroundings.

 

No less than thirty wineries in the vicinity offer their fine produce for tasting. Great places to start are the quaint Black Barn and the modern Craggy Range Vineyard. On a fine day, the vineyards, restaurants and cafés invite you to sit outside, enjoying the sunshine on your face.

 

The Hawk Bay region is especially well known for its excellent Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Taste, sample and savour at your leisure and take some of your favourite wines home with you.

 

On a different day, we recommend you visit Napier, arguably one of the world’s most fascinating art deco cities. Back in 1931, an earthquake and consequent fire destroyed most of Napier. A tragedy at the time, Napier owes its unique style to the inspired reconstruction.

 

A mapped out art deco walk lines up the most important architectural highlights. And should chance take you to Napier in February, the Brebner Print Art Deco Weekend is a festival celebrating the intriguing design style in a not all too serious fashion.

 

A short drive out to the cape’s tip takes you to yet another of the region’s great attractions: the gannet colony. Gannets are large seabirds with long, pointed wings and golden-hooded heads. Quite possibly, this is one of only two roosts on the mainland.

 

There are certainly more activity options than time: go white water rafting down the Mohaka River, horseback riding, hunting or trout fishing. Stroll down lonely beaches and unwind in secluded bays.
