Mont Rochelle is a perfect location for rest and relaxation where guests are encouraged to sample the delicious home-grown wines, swim in the outdoor pool, dine in the on-site restaurants or discover the local area.
There are two restaurants at Mont Rochelle: Miko and the Country Kitchen. MIKO is the flagship restaurant, showcasing the best that Franschhoek has to offer. With its wonderful ambience, an open fireplace for colder nights and the breathtaking view, it offers a very romantic atmosphere. Excellent service and the soft sound of the piano make a visit to the restaurant something special again and again. And of course, the food: This restaurant was also named one of the fifty best restaurants in the world by Condé Nast Traveler.
The Country Kitchen is Mont Rochelle’s informal restaurant located just a short walk or a quick drive from the main hotel building and adjacent to our wine cellar, it is an ideal spot for a light lunch and wine tasting.
Wine tasting at Mont Rochelle isn't just a special event, it’s an everyday occurrence! On-site, the team cultivate and nurture various grape varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon amongst a few others that are used for blending purposes to add complexity. Complimentary wine tasting is included in the room rates so guests can sample these and even buy bottles to take home. The team also offer ‘cellar tours’ so you can learn more about how each wine is made.
When you’re not sampling the famous wines, take a dip and relax in the main outdoor heated swimming pool -there are some fantastic views of the Franschhoek mountains, or indulge in a spa treatment tailored to you, using eco-friendly Africology ‘Authentic’ range of products which are made from 100% essential oils and natural plant extracts.
The grounds at Mont Rochelle cover 39 hectares (about 100 acres) and guests are welcome to go exploring the estate and enjoy a picnic by the dam. The team at the Country Kitchen restaurant can arrange a well-stocked picnic basket with a chilled bottle of wine.
