Living

The Chobe Savanna Lodge is located in the extreme north of the Chobe National Park, on the Namibian side of the Chobe River. The stunning backdrop is composed of the marshlands and savannah plains known read more » as the Puku Flats, which owe their name to the rare Puku Antelopes.

 

Precisely, the Chobe Savanna Lodge is set in the western part of the Puku Flats, an area that has become famous for its large elephant and buffalo herds. Especially in the dry season, when other waterholes slowly dry out, the animals seek the Chobe River.

 

The Savanna Lodge’s twelve luxurious suites are all decked out in warm ochre colours and dark, local wood, blending perfectly with the natural environment. The units feature a stunning 270° degree view of the Chobe River.

 

The thatched-roof chalets all offer a private terrace and combined living-/bedroom beautifully decorated in a typical African style. The spacious bathrooms feature a shower and toilet. Activities

The Chobe Savanna Lodge is all about memorable wildlife encounters in the pristine Chobe National Park. The boat safaris down the wild Chobe River at sunset are certainly a highlight. The sinking sun paints read more » the river’s surface in an iridescent red – a stirring moment!

 

At other moments, you can board a fast motor boat and speed across the water, the wind tugging at your hair. Incidentally, the river is home to the renowned tiger fish. Experienced rangers introduce you to the art of catching the fabled fish.

 

In general, the wildlife is incredibly diverse and plentiful. Not only the rare Puku Antelope but also large herds of elephants, buffaloes and hippos inhabit the region. Lions, leopards, hyenas and giraffes may be spotted.

 

In fact, the big cats frequent the river, which is an easy hunting ground. Antelopes and other prey are forced to approach the water’s edge for a drink. Be sure to carry your binoculars at all times. Breathtaking scenes may be witnessed at any moment and without notice.

 

The Chobe Savanna Lodge offers every kind of safari imaginable, first and foremost, of course, the classic all-terrain game drives. However, you can also visit one of the local villages in the company of a knowledgeable guide, who will point out the hardships of life in the wilderness.
