The Benguerra Lodge is place to feel at home at. Settle down, unwind and indulge in the serene tranquillity. The INTOSOL team visited the Benguerra in 2004 and has hardly ever encountered a hotel that offers a similarly friendly and easygoing atmosphere.

 

Of course, the perfect beach is a great advantage. Many say it is the Bazaruto Archipelago’s most beautiful beach: White, long and wide, fringed by nodding palm trees on one side and crystal-clear water on the other, it certainly fulfils any preconceptions of the perfect tropical beach.

 

The tedious everyday life quickly disappears and is replaced by a succession of stunning sceneries and island-idylls. The Benguerra’s open-construction design creates the feeling of being accommodated directly at the heart of nature.

 

The island magic and the Benguerra Lodge’s gracious flair quickly cast their charms on you. Falls asleep and wake up to the incessant murmur of the waves, inhaling the salty breeze.

 

The Benguerra Lodge is an oasis of peace and quiet, a haven for those who seek supreme relaxation. Such an exclusive hideaway has its price. Three hundred Euros per night and person have to be expected, even in the low season.

 

It is money well spent. Pristine nature and the individual and attentive 24-hour service create a carefree environment that allows the distinguished guests to regain their balance. The owner, her two daughters and two guest managers take a personal interest in their visitors and strive to provide the perfect experience. The motto is: back to the roots.

 

This includes small details like a wildly romantic campfire on the beach, finest meat sizzling on the barbecue, while the guest manageress explains the southern hemisphere’s night sky. It is a wonderful setting designed to allow you to step out of your everyday life.

 

Occasionally, children from the nearby village stroll over to join in the merrymaking and they might treat you to a few of the local songs. This is never arranged, no return is expected. The atmosphere is unspoilt and the children sing out of pure joy.

 

Naturally, the Benguerra Lodge also features facilities designed to enhance your stay with some simply comforts. Benguerra features a beautiful swimming pool, a restaurant, bar and beach bar as well as a water sports centre complete with a diving school and a small fleet of yachts for deep-sea fishing.

Living

The gracious bungalows are the Benguerra Lodge’s biggest draw-card. To every side, the fine units open onto the stunning environment and create the feeling of being nestled comfortably at the heart of read more » the Mother Nature’s splendour. For your privacy, bamboo blinds can be unrolled at every window.

 

It is a revitalising sensation. After two nights of living in harmony with nature, a sense of content and peacefulness generally spreads among the guests. Sporting roofs thatched with palm tree leafs, the bungalows are set just a few metres from the beach, amidst the tropical vegetation.

 

The interior design is slightly rustic and transports a quaint flair: Walls have been built with the traditional clay materials. The ambience is characterised by a natural and warm feeling. A flowing curtain separates the bathrooms, decked out in Mauritian style, and opening onto the lush gardens.

 

The room’s facilities are the necessary essentials. The focus lies on traditional comforts rather than superfluous gadgets. A king-size four-poster bed is draped in a protective mosquito net. The ocean breeze or alternatively a ventilator keep the air circulating and the temperatures pleasant.

 

A telephone, mini bar, whirlpool or satellite TV with more than a hundred channels … nowhere to be found! Instead, the bungalows each feature a lush tropical garden and life in harmony with nature.

 

Those who appreciate a little extra luxury have the option to book one of the two highly comfortable suites. For a small extra charge, the units feature a private pool on the veranda, a luxury bathroom, bar and coffee corner.

 

However, the top of the line accommodation unit at the Benguerra Lodge is the Exclusive Villa. Set apart from the other units, about ten metres in from the beach, the deluxe facilities include two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a private pool, sala and lounge as well as a dining room.

 

Even the most discerning traveller is surprised by the lavish comforts and tasteful ambiance. The first-class service includes a private chef and butler that spoil the villa’s residents with finest culinary delights.

Activities

The Benguerra Lodge offers a large range of sports and activities that can all be conveniently booked through the friendly guest manager.

 

The pride of the Marlin Lodge is the small fleet of comfortably read more » equipped yachts for deep-sea fishing. The activity focus certainly lies on the Indian Ocean’s welcoming waters. A water sports centre offers everything ranging from waterskiing to sailing.

 

Furthermore, a professional diving school offers courses and excursion. A number of pristine, vibrantly alive coral reefs are perfect for underwater expeditions. Those who prefer to stay on top of things may choose to join one of the snorkelling trips.

 

The reefs are still intact in these regions. Our special recommendation is the Two Mile Reef. When the INTOSOL team visited this site, even a whale shark was spotted.

 

A tour of Benguerra Island is highly recommendable: Board a Landrover and allow an experienced ranger to introduce you to the exotic island flora and fauna.

 

Those with a special interest in our feathered friends can join a tour with a focus on the island’s birdlife, which includes both permanent residents and migrating species.

 

At night, treat your loved one to a uniquely romantic experience. Have a private dinner arranged: set on one of the surrounding sandbanks or islets! A memorable event!

 

One of the most well known, brilliantly white sandbanks is Pansi Island, named after the rare Pansi seashells that are found here.

 

Of course, you can also just settle down to enjoy the Benguerra Lodge’s magical flair. No matter how you decide to spend it, time flies at the Benguerra Lodge. Fortunately, the memories last and you will always fondly remember your days in paradise!
