At night, the electric light is switched off and the lodge will only be lit by oil lamps and the glow of the campfire – the most romantic setting for honeymooners. Should you long for more privacy, the island can be chartered to you exclusively.

 

The second accommodation option is the Tangala House which is situated a little off the main lodge in a beautiful nook, directly on the Zambezi. The Tangala House is a superb and luxurious option for families. The colonial house offers four bedrooms and a private pool.

Living

The Tongabezi Lodge: The gentle rush of the Zambezi River will sing you to sleep and wake you in the morning. Is there a better start into the new day?

 

In total there are just five thatched “River read more » Cottages” and five houses. Each unit has been completely individually designed and attention to detail is apparent in every aspect.

 

Natural African construction materials and an African colour scheme setting the tone, you will go on time travel back to the colonial period. Furnishing the units, special attention was paid to the bathrooms. An Open-Air Bath has been set into the floor – bathing delights deluxe!

 

The name River Cottages already says it all – the suites are located directly on the river. The big and comfortable beds with flowing mosquito nets ensure sweet dreams under a twinkling starry sky.

 

Apart from a bathtub, the bathroom offers an extra shower. Relax wherever you. Both the interior and exterior have been designed to provide ultimate comfort…to dream, fantasize, theorise or just plainly snooze.

 

The Honeymoon House is logical solution for romantic couples on a getaway – indulge and relax in the private ambience. From the balcony you enjoy a wonderful view of the river. This is the perfect location for a romantic candle-light-dinner under the stars.

 

The Tree House clings to the cliffs above the river, view included as a courtesy. The side facing the Zambezi is open to nature’s sweet grace. Of course, a tree house is located among the tree tops. This one even extends over two stories. Moreover, the open-air bathroom includes a beautiful stone bathtub featuring a great view of the river.

 

On the top of the hill is luxuriously furnished Bird House. The Dog House is located at the waterside.

 

The Garden Cottage is situated amidst a private garden, however, without a view of the river. The cottage offers not only a luxurious bath and bedroom but also a living room with an open fireplace perfect for snug evenings beside the crackling fire.

 

The five suites on Zindabezi Island offer not only absolute silence and privacy but also the highest comforts decked out in a rustic colonial style.

The brave can test their courage with a hair-raising bungee-jump. An equally impressive but less strenuous activity is canoeing on the Zambezi River. Those who enjoy fishing may also want to cast out a line for the fabled Zambezi Wolf Fish.

 

Undoubtedly the most romantic activity is a river cruise at sunrise or sunset. Ever fantasized about being stranded on a lonely island? On your request you can be dropped off on a river island, equipped with a hearty picnic to keep up your survivor spirit.

 

Take the time and enjoy an unforgettable riverside dinner on a pontoon boat. We also recommend, you do not miss out on a trip to the unspoilt Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.

 

With a little luck on your side, you can see one of the very rare white rhinos of Zambia. Peruse the typically African market at Maramba, haggling with stall owners, or visit the village Mulani!
