The new Wilderness Safaris’ hotel, the Toka Leya Camp, is situated beautifully a few kilometres upriver of the world-famous Victoria Falls, amidst the splendour of the Mosy-Oa-Tunya National Park. The convenient location is off the beaten track and yet only at a 15 minute’s drive from the falls.

At the end of the track, the bush gives way to the one kilometre wide Zambezi River and the guest arrives at the Toka Leya Camp nestled under the shade of tall Jackalberry Trees. Board walk connect the main building with the exciting tent chalets.
It is a wildly romantic atmosphere: The pristine nature, the luxurious facilities and the rushing Zambezi. The main building accommodates a restaurant and a bar. The open construction allows for spectacular views and the design is in line with the typical elegant Wilderness Safaris’ style.
The architectural highlight is doubtlessly an almost perfectly circular terrace located directly above the Zambezi. A giant tree has been left standing and is now a feature of the terrace. A short series of steps leads down to the water’s edge and the fireplace, the African Boma.
At night, after an exciting day in Africa, the guests gather under the tall trees standing sentinel next to the fire by the river. The entire camp is now lit by oil lamps only and infused with a charmingly romantic atmosphere.

Activities
Of course, no visit to the Toka Leya Camp would be complete without a visit to the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. Located just 15 minutes away, the falls are a stunning display of the forces of nature.

A perfect addition to the Victoria Falls spectacle is a tranquil sunset river cruise. The comfortable ship leaves directly from the Toka Leya Camp to navigate the upper Zambezi’s waters and search for bathing elephants or hippos.
A sundowner in hand, enjoy the romantic scenery slowly drifting by. In May and June, when the water level is at its highest, you may even be able to see the spray shot into the air by the thundering falls in the distance.
The National Park surrounding the Toka Leya Camp is known for its abundant wildlife and especially its prolific birdlife. Rare species like the African Finfoot, the Half-Collared Kingfisher, the African Skimmer or the Collared Palm Thrush can be spotted. A classic game drive is the most comfortable way to explore the park.
Those who enjoy challenging fishing should cast a line for the carnivorous Wolf Fish. Especially during the summer months, fishing for the ferocious fish is a fierce fight.
