Kenya –
Sun-kissed Landscapes, Proud People and Fascinating Wildlife

Magical Kenya – a well-founded expression: Kenya inevitably puts a charm on its visitors. The East African nation on the Indian Ocean boasts a rugged beauty not easily summed up with a few words.

Kenya is something that needs to be experienced, that needs to be felt: Inhale the dry savannah air, home to vast herds of wildlife and dig your fingers into the glistening snow on Mount Kenya or your toes into desert sand.

On a different day, saturate your eyes with all the shades of green in the lush forests or float effortlessly above vibrant coral reefs. Kenya offers all that and more, all the fascinating variety the African continent is famous for.

The heart and soul of Kenya are its great people. Learn more about the cultures and traditions of the Maasai, the Samburu or Turkana. Everyday life and even survival can be a great struggle: The age-old way of life is more often than not in conflict with the 21st century. Visit the local tribes. It will surely expand your horizons and leave a lasting impression.

And then, of course, Kenya is famous the world over for its superb safaris. Follow the call of nature to one of the country’s magnificent game reserves like the Maasai Mara National Park.

The Maasai Mara is celebrated as one of the world’s most richly populated wildlife reserves, a special highlight being the Great Migration: It is doubtlessly a natural wonder, countless wildebeests and zebras stir up the dust in the plains, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas nearly always on their heels.

The Amboseli National Park in Kenya’s far south is surely one of the best spots to observe wild elephants. And the Tsavo National Park is home to the famous Big Five, well known for its big cats lazily stretched out on the red earth and volcanic rocks.

Those in search of feathered friends are well advised to visit the Soda Lakes in the Rift Valley. Every year up to 450 different species flocks to the lakes’ shores, among them close to two million flamingos, approximately a third of the world’s entire population.

Kenya is a nature paradise, one of the last intact retreats for Africa’s magnificent wildlife. However, there is a lot more to discover in this fascinating and ruggedly beautiful country.

Endless, white sand beaches kissed by the crystal-clear water of the Indian Ocean and framed by gently nodding palm trees lining the romantic bays… Kenya’s coastline is as magical as its wild hinterland.

And having enjoyed the thrills of sun, sand and sea, visit the harbour city Mombasa with its intriguing cultural mélange combining African with Arabic and Indian influences. It is the most important harbour on East Africa’s long coast.

Nairobi and Mombasa are Kenya’s two largest cities. Nairobi, the capital is a pulsating metropolis and the country’s economic engine. And what is more, merely twenty kilometres out of town lies Kenya’s oldest national park.

Kenya is just perfect for a combination of beach and safari. Set your camera on Africa’s exciting wildlife and stretch out on a pristine Indian Ocean beach some days later. Bush and Beach in Kenya – a winning combination!
