"Waya, waya" -

Keep on moving

Waya Waya – there is no better way to describe Johannesburg, Pretoria and the region Gauteng, where both cities are located. The slogan of the Gauteng region literally means as much as “always keep on moving”. And it is true: Johannesburg is a multicultural city pulsating with life at any time of the day and Pretoria is the “government-city”, the centre of all political action and South Africa’s capital. If it is museums, theatres, nightlife or amusements parks that spark your interest – you will not become bored very easily in Johannesburg and Pretoria. It is not without reasons that Joburg, how locals call it, is well known as the shopping and nightlife hub of Africa. Experience the pulsating metropolis in all its colourful facets. Stroll through the posh Johannesburg suburbs Sandton and Sandhurst. You will be amazed by the pomp and luxury. Johannesburg makes for a perfect shopping-stopover on any South Africa round trip. The main attractions in Pretoria are the union buildings, modern downtown city and the reminders of the past, like the Vortrekker Monument. Joburg serves as an international airline hub. It is recommended you plan a stopover of at least two days to get to know this completely different aspect of South Africa. Additionally, Joburg is the departure point for countless excursions focusing on Johannesburg and the wider area.

Pilanesberg National Park

The Pilanesberg National Park is located in a huge crater that was created by a meteoroid millions of years ago. The national park offers breathtaking natural landscapes and a large variety of species. It is the home of the “Big Five” – Lion, elephant, water buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros. It is situated at about two hours driving distance from Pretoria.

Lesedi Village

Just an hour’s drive away from Johannesburg, the Lesedi Village is an insider’s tip, a place where many exciting cultural experiences can be made. Lesedi is as a multicultural village, a unique location in South Africa and one where visitors have the opportunity to get to know the way of life of five different cultures (Zulu, Ndebele, Xhosa, Pedi and Sotho). The experience involves all five senses: hear, see, taste smell and feel! You will experience the life of different tribes firsthand – witness the traditional dances in magnificent costumes, listen to hypnotising melodies and taste the typical food of the African natives. It is a unique opportunity for an in-depth impression of the African life and a chance to appreciate the differences between the various tribes’ cultures.
