Incidentally, the interior still boasts its original design. Not far from the Palace, the Roman-Catholic cathedral Notre Dame is a hallmark of the French Colonial era. The forty metres high brick towers still stand proud and the church regularly celebrates Mass. Cholon is Ho Chi Minh City’s china town and translates into “big market”. Living up to its name, Cholon is full of bustling crowds visiting the countless stores and restaurants. The fifth district furthermore sports beautiful Chinese temples like the Buddhist Quan-An, dedicated to the goddess of mercy. However, no visit to Ho Chi Minh City would be complete without having perused the Ben Thanh Market west of Le-Loi-Street.
