The French Polynesian Ocean teems with dolphins, especially the spinner dolphins frequent these waters and may be easily observed on boat excursions or dives.
First and foremost, it is Moorea Island with its resident dolphin scientist Dr. Michael Poole that provides unparalleled dolphin experiences. Of course, Dr. Poole like none other can provide detailed information on the sea mammals.
On a guided excursion you meet the intelligent animals up close and ... with just a little luck ... may even enjoy the chance to swim and snorkel with the wild animals!
Those who are specifically interested in touching and interacting even more closely with the dolphins may visit the Dolphin Quest, part of the InterContinental Beachcomber Hotel, Moorea. Three dolphins inhabit a separate part of the lagoon and are awaiting your visit.
It has to be said, however, that the dolphin enclosure is rather small and raises the question whether the animals would not fare better in the wild. Nevertheless, children doubtlessly will be thrilled and amazed by the experience!
