Tailor-made Fiordland National Park Travel Experiences -

Boundless Nature

Visiting New Zealand, a highlight in any itinerary is the spectacular Milford Sound. The fiord cuts deep into the surrounding mountains and the 1700 metres high Mitre Peak towers above the deep blue sea far below – a breathtaking sight! However, the experience already begins on the drive from Te Anau to Milford. The mountain route is commonly described as New Newland’s most scenic drive. Glittering, crystal-clear mountain lakes and inspiring panoramas have you pulling over at every other turn of the road. In Milford you leave the car behind for a boat operated by “Real Journeys” that takes you deep into the 16 kilometres long fiord. Camera at the ready and mouth agape, admire the beautiful composition of blue ocean, green hillsides and snow-capped peaks. The magnificent scenery is certainly at the focus but the boat ride also takes you past noisy seal colonies and the thundering Bowen waterfalls that tumble down into the fiord. It is advisable to keep a raincoat ready to protect yourself from the spray. And with just a little luck on your side, you may furthermore spot the dolphins that inhabit the fiord. On your request, INTOSOL may prearrange a private, guided boat tour, leaving you free to enjoy your holiday with not a worry clouding your mind. Should you have taken a liking to New Zealand’s fiords, the next to visit is the Doubtful Sound. No less beautiful than Milford, the Doubtful Sound is impressively deep and long. With some time to spare, both may easily be included into your itinerary. Both the Milford and the Doubtful Sound form part of the pristine Fiordland National Park. Stretching south from Milford, the vast national park encompasses the south west corner of New Zealand’s South Island. A nature paradise par excellence, the terrain is cleft by the many fiords that reach deep into the mountainous landscape. Many kilometres inland, the geological features are mirrored by Lake Te Anau’s arms that cut into the mountains, reaching in the opposite direction. No matter which part of the national park you choose to explore, the Fiordlands are a heaven for nature enthusiasts and hikers. Keep your eyes open for the many plant and animal species endemic to the region. A well maintained network of hiking trails crosses the rugged terrain, including a number of multi-day routes. Certainly the most famous trail, the Milford Track sports breathtakingly beautiful panoramas. It is a pleasure for INTOSOL to arrange a full comfort hiking experience for you: Of course, your feet do the work but at night a luxury tent is set up for you while a delicious dinner cooks on the fire. The departure point for tours into the Fiordlands is the small town Te Anau, located on the lake of the same name. Spend a night or two in the charming little town and visit the small stores and welcoming restaurants. A local attraction not to be missed are the sensational Glowworm Caves: A boat leaving from the Te Anau jetty takes you into the pitch-black caves, where a million glow-worms twinkle back at you from out of the darkness – a romantic, slightly surreal experience! The Fiordlands and its impressive sounds are located at a distance of only three hours from Queenstown. The well-known operator “Real Journeys” can also arrange guided tours, bus transfers or flights - the bird’s view is inspiring! Let us know about your ideas and wishes. It would be a pleasure for us to help you with your arrangements and recommend some of the Fiordland’s finest hotels!
