No more than 24 superbly decked out suites and deluxe rooms accommodate only a handful of guests at a time. The generous units are between 30 and 160 square metres large and furnished exclusively with designer pieces including a writing desk, easy chair or divan.

 

Every detail tells a story: Antique oak flooring or a marble bathroom set the tone. Of course, room temperature and lighting are controlled individually, doors and windows are sound-proofed.

 

Entertainment and information is provided by high-speed WiFi and an LCD TV with Pay-TV and satellite channels. A telephone and a safe form part of the amenities.

 

There is no end to the facilities that are at your disposal. Dry off with a towel that has been warmed on a heatable rack before slipping into a soft bathrobe and slippers. The bathrooms include a designer toilet, hairdryer, make-up mirror and a full-body mirror. A laptop and an umbrella have been provided.

Of course, at the centre of the city is the Piazza del Duomo – the Cathedral Square. On the northern side, the Cathedral Square is complemented by a row of stately palaces. However, at the heart of the square, the Milan Cathedral, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic, invariably draws the eye.

 

Walk around to the cathedral's south side and discover the Palazzo Reale, erected in 1788 on the site of the Viconti and Sforza Palace. And another glowing recommendation goes to the Teatro alla Scala!

 

The theatre ranks among the largest and most celebrated opera venues in the world. Adding history to the splendour, the left side building accommodates the museum with a complete collection of theatre history.

 

Adjacent, the Verdi Museum exhibits countless of the great Italian's personal affects as well as a detailed display of his life and life's work. Those interested in the history of art and even technology have certainly come to the right place.

 

It was in 1492 that Leonardo da Vinci came to the Milan court and was appointed the great task to design locks in order to extend the canal network, the so called Navigli. Countless drawings and notes have been kept safe throughout the centuries.

 

But then, of course, Leonardo da Vinci became famous for other masterpieces, among others his world-famous fresco The last Supper – it is on exhibition at the museum adjacent to the Santa Maria della Grazie church. There is no shortage of historic sites in Milan: Benvenuti to Italy!
