Living

The Nxabega Camp’s nine safari tents radiate classic elegance. The refined units have all been set on raised platforms that include a private viewing deck and command a spectacular view of the floodplains read more » all around.

 

The furniture and the design are reminiscent of old times and safaris during the colonial years. Those who enjoy being close to nature, may simply leave the flaps of their tent open at night to enjoy a glimpse of the stars and the concert of the wilderness.

 

Despite the tent character, the elegant units offer well-protected privacy. Moreover, with only nine tents, the Nxabega Camp never accommodates more than 18 guests at any one time. The tents are spaced at least twenty metres apart and all offer a private shower ensuite.

 

Depending on your preferences, the tents can be arranged either with two single beds or a double bed. On a special day … or simply feeling a little lazy, request to have breakfast served in bed.

 

Just wonderful: Having spent a luxuriously long night with dreams of Africa supplemented by the sounds of the wildlife, wake up to a steaming mug of freshly brewed coffee and a view of the early morning light flickering across the floodplains.

Activities

Translated from the language of the tribe that inhabits the remote regions of the Okavango Delta, the Bayei, the word Nxageba means as much as “place of the giraffe”.

 

And of course, as you might read more » expect, graceful giraffes are one of the species you will most likely encounter. However, countless other species populate the Okavango Delta’s many habitats.

 

The Nxageba Camp is situated on a 7000 hectares large concession on the western border of the Moremi Game Reserve. It is the perfect basis for exploring the region both on land and on water.

 

The delta permanently holds water, a circumstance that does not only attract a stunning abundance of wildlife but also allows for “game drives” on the water – either in a motorboat or in a traditional Mokoro, a local dug-out canoe.

 

Glide down the intricate system of twisting waterways and approach the animals in complete silence. Moreover, twice a day, classic game drives in open safari vehicles are being offered.

 

Remember to always keep your camera at the ready. The next picture waiting to be shot might be just around the next bend. The Okavango Delta is paradise for enthusiastic photographers.
