There is more to the story: Having made the investment into the hotel’s water system, the owners, family Vanderhoeven, expanded the project to include the neighbouring villages. at any one time. You may choose between three rooms, the Ocean Suite in the large Msambweni Main House and three private villas.
The three ensuite Master Rooms are located in the main house and include a large, private terrace each. The elegant bathrooms feature a vast bathtub as well as a spacious shower. High ceilings and white washed walls create an airy flair radiating cool, elegant chic.
The Master Rooms I and II offer large bedrooms that command breathtaking views out over the turquoise ocean. The Master Room III overlooks both the Indian Ocean as well as the surrounding bushland. All of the Master Rooms feature white baldachins, providing elegant insect protection, as well as air-conditioning. The three units share a common lounge and a dining room.
Just in the eventuality that the main house is completely booked out or that guests travelling with family and friends need some extra space, two cosy and private suites, the Makuti I and II are located just beneath the roof. They share a common lounge and a tastefully furnished shower bathroom.
Set atop a timber deck at some fifty metres distance from the main house, the generous Ocean Suite offers top-of-the-range luxuries: Caressed by a soft ocean breeze, the outstanding luxury suite boasts vast 900 square metres for you to spread out.
Designed in the style of a luxury tent, the Ocean Suite features a large king-sized bed and two bathrooms. You may choose to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with the other guests over at the Main House or in the quiet privacy of your luxury suite.
However, there is more to look forward to: The Private Villa I offers a thirty metres long private swimming pool as well as a Jacuzzi set into the terrace commanding a breathtaking view of the beach and the ocean beyond.
The Private Villa I includes two bedrooms: The first has been furnished with comfortable double bed and features air-conditioning, the second offers a double bed and an additional single bed. A ceiling van provides a refreshing breeze at the touch of a button.
The Private Villa II offers almost identical comforts. The swimming pool merely measures in slightly smaller with ten metres. However, the smaller pool is compensated by the villa’s delightful sundowner area set against the backdrop of a 500 years old Baobab tree.
Additional perks at the Private Villa II include a superbly equipped lounge complete with a 42-inch flat screen TV, DVD player and designer furniture. The lounge opens directly onto the terrace with your private infinity pool glittering in the sun. Just perfect!

Kick back and enjoy life on the blindingly white sand at Diani Beach or explore the colourful underwater world on a snorkelling expedition. In addition to the many diverse coral fish, you may even spot turtles or dolphins. Other popular activities include deep-sea fishing, wind and kite surfing.
Should you ever become tired of the easy life on the beach, just set off to explore the hinterland: The coastline is bordered by lush, green rainforest – home to hundreds of bird species and mammals like baboons, colobus monkeys and even leopards. Tie up your hiking boots or hop atop a mountain bike! And for those that would like to take a swing: A mere twenty minutes’ drive takes you to the 18-hole Championship Leisure Lodge Golf Club.
Mombasa is one of Kenya’s largest cities and certainly worth a visit: In many parts it offers a surprisingly modern lifestyle. And then, of course, there is the historic old town with its many protected monuments.
Keep heading inland from Mombasa and you will discover a myriad of small villages inhabited by the ancient tribes Wakamba, Digo and Duruma. It is here that you can really put your finger on the pulse of Kenya’s old traditions and culture. Observe the locals going about their centuries old way of life and taste the regional specialities.
A last, hot recommendation is a day trip south to the mysterious coastal caves near the fishing village Shimoni. Opening to the ocean, the caves lead deep into the jungle. It is a historic fact that they were readily used by Arabian slave traders and early explorers.
