Labriz Silhouette – Luxury in a Secluded Paradise of Pristine Tropical NatureThe sun rising above the horizon, Labriz Silhouette lives up to its name: waving in and out of the early morning mist and materialising only gradually. In full daylight, the island’s appearance becomes a striking sight. Against the backdrop of the Indian, Ocean Mount Dauban marks Silhouette’s highest point at 740 metres above sea level.
Silhouette lies at a mere 20 kilometre distance from the Seychelles’ main island Mahé and yet is nevertheless considered one of the archipelago’s most ecologically intact and authentic islands. No roads or even oxcarts corrupt the pristine island. Instead, the city-tired traveller will find soothing solitude, catalogue-picture beaches and a diverse and intact ecosystem.
Silhouette is home to a range of endemic species of plants which are no longer found on the Seychelles’ other islands. The typical hardwood forests once abundant on the islands have remained largely unharmed on Silhouette.
Like in the old days, the islands principal industries are fishery and coconut palm plantations with tourism being on the rise. However, special importance is placed on regulating tourism related activities to ensure sustainability and exclusiveness. Apart from the relatively new, top-class resort Labriz, only one other tiny lodge offers accommodation on the island.
The maximum number of guests on the Silhouette is thus intentionally limited by the lodging availability. Taking into account that Silhouette is the Seychelles’ third largest island after Mahé and Praslin, it becomes quite apparent you will have the island almost to yourself.
Silhouette is a not only a fantastic destination for leisurely indulgence on the beach but also a tropical paradise for nature enthusiasts. From a casual beach stroll to a rainforest hike: every activity is scalable to suit your roving spirit. Winding trails traversing the lush, tropical vegetation climb to stunning vantage points and lead to secluded bays and lonely beaches.
Set among the natural splendour, the luxurious hotel Labriz is a matchless showcase of refined accommodation in a gorgeous setting. Translating into “The Breeze”, the Creole name is derived from the French words „La Briz“.
Blending seamlessly with its tropical surroundings, the resort is situated on a two kilometre long sandy beach. A luxurious ambience, a first-class spa, a truly remarkable cuisine and the inspiring natural beauty of the island are fused into an integral concept which continually transcends guest expectations.
An intensified nature experience is also at the focus of the guided excursions along concealed rainforest trails. Knowledgeable locals will reveal nature’s most intimate secrets; a most educative and entertaining tour not to be missed.
The aspiring La Grande Case Restaurant serves up tongue tantalising Creole creations. The gourmet restaurant revives the premises of an authentic planter’s home designed in the characteristic British-French colonial style. The ambience conjures up the island’s fascinating colonial history, authenticity apparent in every detail.
The estate was the original home of the Dauban family, once the island’s owners. These days the two level building accommodates not only the exclusive restaurant but also a small boutique shop and a library.
Those interested in art and history should stop by Labriz’ gallery and museum showcasing the island’s history. The gallery features s superb selection of artworks created foremost by leading local artists.
The gallery/museum’s premises are furthermore a perfect backdrop for private festivities or business meetings with up to eight participants. Connoisseurs of la bella Italia’s fine cuisine will appreciate the Italian restaurant’s mouth-watering creations – seasoned by a stunning view of Mount Dauban.
A Grill and Teppanayaki Restaurant located directly on the beach is centred on the show cook’s stage kitchen which serves up grilled delicacies and fresh fish. A fourth option is the All Day Dining Restaurant featuring gourmet buffets with international and Creole specialities. Choosing is the hardest step and the day’s final cocktail, eyes resting on the Indian Ocean, will be well deserved.
