Grasmere Lodge – Spectacular Nature & Classic LuxuryWhen you first lay eyes on the luxurious Grasmere Lodge from the distance, the colonial farmhouse set against New Zealand’s spectacular mountain backdrop seems to be an idealised model world.
The Grasmere Lodge offers its guests supremely comfortable accommodation at the heart of pristine nature in a quiet setting. It is not without reason that the Grasmere Lodge has won a membership in the exclusive association Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
A former working farm, the main limestone building dates back to 1858 – the historic centrepiece that lends the Grasmere Lodge its distinctive flair. The turbulent events of history and decades brought many changes until the farm was converted into a hotel in 1994.
Apart from the long history of the house, the owner Tom Butler is especially proud of the Green Globe Benchmarked Certificate, which officially attests that the lodge is complying with the strictest sustainability directives.
A glowing recommendation also goes to the Grasmere Lodge’s exquisite cuisine. Having been personally welcomed to the lodge by Tom Butler, you are invited to a courtesy cocktail.
In the summer months, the doors to the blossoming garden swing wide open and you may proceed to enjoy a delicious open-air dinner. In the colder months, a crackling fire is lit in the large lounge.
Generally, all of the Grasmere Lodge’s guests are accommodated around one large table like a big family. However, on your request, a private dinner may also be arranged.
Throughout the rest of the day, the cosy lounge is the perfect place to chat to the other guests or sip a steaming mug of tea or coffee. Feel free to demonstrate your skills on the lobby’s old piano!
