Savute Elephant Camp - Private Setting and prolific Elephant Population The Savute Elephant Camp is located at the heart of the Chobe National Park, in the Savute region. Set on the banks of the former Savute Channel, it offers magnificent panoramic views out over the inspiring landscape, which is frequently dotted with the bulky shapes elephants.
A large waterhole is situated just metres from the camp’s main building. It provides the elephants with fresh drinking water and a bath. Settle down on the veranda, a refreshing drink in hand, and watch the elephants going about their business – it is simply amazing!
Savute is a fascinating region, offering you the chance to see not only elephants but also large numbers of lions. It is not uncommon to spot prides with up to 40 individuals. Other mayor predators are also readily sighted: the endangered wild dogs, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas.
Savute is furthermore renowned for its excellent birding during the summer months (December through March). Additionally, the early San Bushmen chose the site for leaving ancient rock paintings as evidence of their life and culture.
At its centre, the Chobe National Park is a vibrant wilderness, a wide savannah area with rocky outcrops, which seem to guard what was once a marshy swamp scared by countless channels.
The Orient-Express group stands for first-class quality and, doubtlessly the Savute Elephant Camp is one of the most luxurious in the entire Chobe National Park. Consisting of only twelve tents, Savute offers you a very private and special holiday.
The camp offers a semi-open restaurant and bar, beautifully situated swimming pool, Booma, library and souvenir shop. The service is courteous and unobtrusive and the overall atmosphere is very friendly. We are sure you will feel right at home.
