ActivitiesThe scenic Tanganyika Lake and the soaring Mahale Mountains are more than a natural paradise and relaxing setting for those lodged at the sophisticated Nomad Greystoke.
The lush, green forests are home to one of the last large chimpanzee populations. The chimpanzee’s intelligence, its generally friendly disposition and likeliness to humans have long since fascinated mankind.
Lodged at the Nomad Greystoke in the Mahale Mountains National Park, you will enjoy the rare opportunity observe these fascinating primates in the vicinity of your accommodation.
A troop of 60 individuals, one of the largest in the world, usually stays in the area close to the Nomad camp. Every morning, trackers set out to find the animals.
Thus, visitors are almost guaranteed to see and experience the chimpanzees in their natural environment. Of course, the lush forests house more than the chimps. Other monkey species, countless birds and butterflies are easily spotted.
Stroll past ancient trees, lianas and waterfalls and allow the magic of eastern Africa to charm you. It is recommendable to spend more than one day admiring the chimpanzees and discovering the gorgeous landscape.
Take as many days as you like – the inspiring setting features enough attractions and has so much appeal you could spend weeks. There is a lot to do and much to discover.
For example, cruise down the gorgeous lake in a boat and, if the timing is perfect, admire a spectacular and romantic sunset!
Go for a dip in the crystal-clear, shimmering blue water and work on your tan on the white sand beach. Take a canoe out onto the lake and maybe cast a line, catching the fish for dinner. Beauty is also found beneath the water. Discover the underwater life with a mask and snorkel.
Incidentally, your visit to the Mahale Mountains contributes to the ongoing protection of the flora and fauna, first and foremost, the chimpanzees. Once you have laid eyes on this paradise, you will understand why the protection enjoys such great importance. It is reassuring that is taken so seriously!
